Our Mission

Roha Institute is a joint venture between Debby Andersen and Zohreh Sadeghi. Our mission is simple: empowerment. We want to empower you to take your healing into your own hands with the help of the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda considers that each individual has a unique combination of physical, mental, and spiritual qualities that shape their experience of life. We strive to preserve this ancient medicine by offering comprehensive and authentic education, bringing it into the modern world to make it accessible for everyone of all walks of life and all ages. We believe in the power of Ayurveda to transform lives by addressing the root cause of physical and emotional imbalances through personalized, natural means.

Our classes, workshops, and retreats are designed to promote balance and harmony in all aspects of life, including diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, and more.

Our commitment to excellence and authenticity ensures that our students and attendees receive the highest quality education, grounded in the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda. We are dedicated to fostering a community of lifelong learners who are passionate about promoting health, happiness, and well-being through the power of Ayurveda.

Are you ready to heal, educate, & inspire with us?

Our Story

We are both lifelong students of Ayurveda. So it makes sense that, years into both of our separate careers helping clients, we met in 2018 while studying with world-renowned Ayurvedic doctor Vasant Lad, in Pune, India. We quickly realized that we shared a moderate, joy-filled approach to Ayurvedic living, and it became clear that we were meant to collaborate. Our shared vision has taken shape through the Roha Institute of Ayurvedic Living.

Debby and Zohreh have both been practicing Ayurveda for over 10 years. Through their experience teaching courses, workshops, and facilitating Ayurvedic retreats, they found a mutual passion for teaching and spreading the knowledge of Ayurveda in larger settings.

While Debby and Zohreh share their love for Ayurveda, they also have another thing in common—their care for humanity and the planet. Zohreh has been involved in activism work from a very young age following in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother’s deep love for social justice and human rights passed down to Zohreh early on and she’d found herself fighting for justice and equality ever since she was a kid. She dedicated her thesis project in art school—a 200-page book titled “This is The Voice”— to women’s rights issues in the Middle East, particularly Afghanistan and Iran. In her own words “ I fight for the ones whose voices aren’t heard, the ones that are silenced by simply being born in a region of the world that doesn’t value human rights or lives, a region of the world that is forgotten by the rest of the world and remains in the shadows.”

Debby's love of nature deepened immensely during her travels in her early 20s, when she spent a year backpacking through New Zealand, Australia, Southeast Asia, India, and Nepal. Her experiences hiking through pristine wilderness, cleaning up Thai beaches after the 2004 tsunami, visiting remote Indigenous communities, and teaching English to Tibetan refugees revealed the importance of taking better care of each other and our planet. She believes Ayurveda has an important role to play in healing not only individuals, but mother earth. Through living in ways that are in harmony with the planet, we not only regain health, but restore balance to the ecosystems that are fundamental for all life.

Let Ayurveda meet you where you are right now in your life. We are both passionate healers, devoted to Ayurveda, but we are also human. We are human rights and environmental activists. We care about all of humanity and the entire planet.

Why Us?

We believe in moderation. We believe in living in a world where real humans exist and thrive, not only survive, or pretend. We believe this world can be made possible when you tap into your authentic self, and live life from the place of your heart. Ayurveda has made this possible for us.

While we are both committed Ayurvedic practitioners who live Ayurvedic lifestyles, we also believe in enjoying anything and everything life throws your way, in moderation. In order to truly live you must experience all that is offered to you by this universe. If Ayurveda becomes yet another practice that makes you more rigid and inflexible, then it hasn’t served its purpose. Ayurveda is meant to make your mind more flexible, put you more at ease, help you to release and let go, so you begin to flow through life like water, with ease, grace, and resilience.

The biggest gift Ayurveda has bestowed upon us is the ability to cultivate joy at all times, not only when life is easy and happy. But especially when the going gets tough. We have learned to stand in the middle of the storm smiling while crying because deep down we know that we have the resilience to get through to the other side. And we realize that every moment passes, nothing is permanent. This world is constantly changing and we are constantly evolving. By recognizing the impermanence of all things, we are able to water the seeds of detachment, leading to peace and liberation from the cycle of suffering. This also reminds us to live in the present moment and appreciate each moment for what it is, good or bad, hard or easy, as it will never occur again in the same way.

Come and find your joy with us!

“What I love about Ayurveda is that I finally feel that I’m doing the right thing for my body and for my mind. It’s not a new fancy diet plan, it’s just what you really need. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!”
